Capriccio

Pius Ciapało is an artist fascinated by music. He has been creating works of art for many years. Although they have been created in classical techniques – oil, canvas, stretcher – they create completely new qualities in their expression. He is the creator of monumental works called „symphonies”, such as Symphony „Seasons” (1974) – 48 paintings of 120m2, or one of the latest, a huge realization – „Architectural” Symphony. This time the artist presents intimate works with the graceful name „capriccio”.
„Capriccio” is a collection of abstract, structural geometric-colour paintings. A single „Capriccio” consists of six differently colored right-angled triangles. The use of triangles – the purest geometric forms – in the compositions makes it possible, through their configuration, to obtain a huge number of visual combinations. Mutations of forms, shapes and colours give the artist almost unlimited creative possibilities. Capriccio is, according to the dictionary definition, a polyphonic musical piece, a kind of virtuosic etude. Pius Ciapało's Capriccio's are definitionally identical in painting with their musical reference.
